United States/Hong Kong / 2023 – 2:57 min – Rachel Mow
The film takes place in Hong Kong during the late 80s, which is the golden age of Hong Kong when the economy was booming and the city kept moving.
The story begins inside a convenience store where the girl works on a very hot summer day. On this extremely hot day, the sun melts her popsicle and she gets a heat stroke, so she stomps outside to blame the sun. The sun is a crazy and wild being, who enjoys pranking and making fun of humans. In his natural state, he is very wiggly and slippery, he has the ability to melt whatever he pleases. The stubborn girl bothers the sun childishly using a cat cradle and whatever she has. When the girl tries shooting down the sun with soda, the sun powers up to his battle form. With the upper hand, the sun grabs and hurls the girl across the city, and she flies to the Buddha temple, she receives unexpected help from the Buddha and overpowers the sun. After the victory, we are hit back to reality. The film ends back in the city during nighttime, lit up with neon signs.
